How to Plan and Throw a Great Easter Party

*Easter is a special time with children. From the chocolates, Easter Egg hunts, to tales about the Easter bunny, there's alot to entertain and excite them. Planning and throwing a nice Easter party for the kids that will also be enjoyable for adults can be done with a relatively small amount of effort and at a very reasonable cost.

Invitations

*Great Easter Party Invitation makes for excitement about your party from the very beginning.

*When most children think of Easter, they think of sweets like chocolate bunnys, chicks and Easter eggs. One idea for an invitation is to write the details of the invitation on a container or, better still, on a ribbon which will surround a chocolate egg, bunny or chick. If you're putting the invitation on the container (Envelope, bag or small homemade Easter Basket), you might want to print the invitation's message on a label using your computer.

*Simpler invitations can be made by cutting a paper egg shape from construction paper and decorating it with glitter. Use a marker to write the information for the invitation.

*Another idea is to create a hunt for the invitation to your party using a series of post cards. In this type of invitation, you send each guest a series of post cards (3 or 4); each with a clue as to where to look for the invitation. This is a little effort, but this approach results in a great deal of anticipation for your party.

*For those who seek a simpler approach to invitations, you can choose from among the invitations in our party store.

Decorations

*Easter colors are usually pastel yellows, pinks and blues. For this reason, you'll probably want to use these colors for your tablecloths. Use pink or blue party supplies from your local market or use the convenience of our online party store. For the tablecloth, you can use recycled sheets with sponge painted bunnies, baskets or eggs, or one from a local market or our online store.

*For centerpieces on each table, make cupcakes configured with paper handles to look like easter baskets or bake a cake in the shape of the Easter Bunny. Colored eggs with the name of each guest written on them can be placed in green plastic grass to mark each guest's place at the table.

*Another great centerpiece is a vase of fresh spring flowers.

*Nice napkin rings can be made by running a thread through a number of jelly beans and tying it off in a ring shape. Use a sewing needle to help putting the thread through the jelly beans.

Easter Egg Hunt

*You'll definitely want to organize an Easter egg hunt with either real eggs, artificial eggs filled with goodies or both. There's also the hiding of the eggs to consider. This is different depending on the ages of the children that will be attending your party. If all the kids attending the party are the same age, you can hide the eggs in equally difficult places and be assured that most all the kids will find at least one egg. If the children are different ages, you might want to have different hunts for the younger and older children so all will have fun.

*If you are using artificial eggs filled with goodies, you might want to fill them with jelly beans, toys, chocolates, or money. If you use real eggs, consider having an egg coloring and decorating contest early in the party so the children and parents can enjoy decorating the eggs together.

Activities

*Beyond the Easter egg hunt, you can plan a number of other activities.

*Easter Character Hunt - Pick a number of words associated with Easter such as: Easter egg, little lamb, Easter Bunny, Chocolate Bunny etc. and write them on the back of cut out flags. Put the flags in a deck to be drawn by your guests. As each guest pulls a card, they have 30 seconds to come up with as many words as possible using the letters of the word on their card. Provide a bag of M&Ms or Red Hots to the winner.

*Easter Eggs Galore - Put a large number of chocolate Easter eggs in a jar. Make sure you carefully count the number of eggs and record the number. As they arrive, ask your guests to visit the jar, write their name and best guess as to how many hearts are in the jar and put their piece of paper into a slotted box beside the jar. At some point during the party, open the box and give the jar of eggs to the person or persons with the closest guess.

*Easter Egg Relay - You'll need two or more hard boiled eggs for this game. Divide the guests into teams whose goal is to have all team members roll the egg to the end of the course and back. As each guest finishes rolling the egg to the end of the course and back using a spoon, they hand the spoon to the next person on their team. The first team to have all team members complete the course is the winner.

*Easter Egg Swing - Make a number of plastic eggs or easter baskets wrapped in celophane and hang them from the ceiling of your back porch. Blindfold one guest at a time giving them a stick with which to hit the hanging eggs and baskets. The guest wins any basket or egg they knock to the ground. Each guest gets a turn and all must receive at least one prize. Be sure to keep the other guests at a safe distance while the blindfolded guest is trying to knock down their prize.

Refreshments

*Refreshments for the party can include simple refreshments like small sandwiches of cheese or egg salad in the shape of Easter icons like bunnies, eggs, lambs and chicks. Other refreshments could include baby carrots with a dip, Easter basket cupcakes, Easter Story Cookies, or other delicacies.
