The Tower of LondonNot far down the Thames, you can see the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London where, if you'll listen carefully, you can still hear the whoosh of the ax and the dropping of the heads. Housed in the Tower of London are the Crown Jewels, a collection of rings, sceptres, crowns, orbs, swords and other ornamentation worn by the monarchs during the coronation ceremonies and certain state functions. |

St. Paul's CathedralAlso near the River Thames , is the beautiful dome of St Paul's Cathedral. One of London's most visited sites, St Paul's is the largest cathedral in England and is the masterwork of the great designer, astronomer, geometer, and the greatest English architect of his time, Sir Chrostopher Wren. |
The London EyeAlso on the Thames River next to County Hall is British Airway's London Eye, the worlds tallest rotating observation structure. Some of the best views of the Thames, Parliament Buildings, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace are from the top of the Eye. Pictures from the top of this 400 ft structure are breathtaking. |

Westminster AbbeyA short walk across the river from the London Eye is Westminster Abbey. The coronation of nearly every monarch since the 1066 coronation of William the Conqueror was held in Westminster Abbey. A work of architectural genius, the Abbey is still a place of worship and the burial place of monarchs, statesmen, and famous scientists, warriors, musicians and poets. |
Windsor CastleNot far from London, Windsor Castle, the largest occupied castle in the world, has housed British Royalty for over 900 years. The castle, which dates back to the time of William the Conqueror, is located in the rolling hills of the English county of Berkshire. A visit to the castle is a short day trip from London. |

Houses of ParliamentIn 1265, parliament was created forming the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The House of Lords met at the Palace of Westminster, the current Parliament buildings. The oldest section of the Palace which is still in existence, was built in 1097. Most of the current structure was built by Sir Charles Barry and Augustus Welby Pugin in the 19th Century. |
